The Strategy

The consortia provides a platform for knowledge integration and exchange between institutions and individuals working on different agricultural programs related to ISFM. Each country has a full functional and autonomous country level consortium encompassing; soil scientists, plant scientists, economists, policy makers, extension officers, agricultural input dealers and output market players among others. The consortia is appreciating support from mainstream government institutions, NARS, universities, CGIAR and development based institutions from whom representatives into the consortia have been nominated. Over 200 institutions and 1,000 individuals are members of the consortia. The project has set up fully functional secretariat that coordinates activities of the consortia and function as the repository of ISFM knowledge resources at the national level. To achieve the project objectives, the consortia identified five key thematic areas of focus forming the basis of the working groups in the respective countries. The 5 working groups implementing the consortia mandate in each country are:

  • Research on ISFM innovations task force
  • Extension, training and market access task force
  • Policy and communication task force
  • Resource mobilization task force
  • Monitoring and evaluation task force
